We hire
slowly.

Most of the work at Straun is permanent and salaried. Contract work exists where it has to, but the default is full employment with the standard rights and responsibilities that comes with.

We hire when we have specific work that needs specific people. We do not hire to "build pipeline" or "expand capacity in advance of demand." This means we move slowly, but it also means that when you join Straun, the work is real and waiting.

Most roles are based in Glasgow, with a small number of remote positions across the United Kingdom. We do not currently hire internationally.

What working at Straun looks like.

01 / TENURE

Permanent first.

The default contract is permanent and salaried. We do not hire on rolling contracts unless the work itself is genuinely time-bounded. People stay because the work is good, not because the contract requires it.

02 / PAY

Living wage as floor.

Every role at Straun starts at or above the Living Wage Foundation rate, including apprenticeships and entry-level positions. Pay distribution is published annually in the Headwaters report.

03 / GROWTH

Cross-portfolio mobility.

You can move between operating companies. A Forest Grove engineer can spend a year working with Atomic Engine on monitoring infrastructure. The portfolio exists so you do not have to leave Straun to learn something new.
